Drugs peddler held, heroin seized in Gaurisagar

GAURISAGAR: Acting on a tip-off, Gaurisagar Police led by Officer in-charge (O/c) Deepjyoti Morang, on Sunday night held a drug peddler in between Jhanji -Phulpanichiga. He was identified as Taikumlai Gogoi, son of Rituraj Gogoi in Sivasagar Station Chariali under Sivasagar Sadar police station. According to police sources, he was travelling from Jorhat towards Sivasagar in his Nano car bearing registration no AS04S 4191. Based on information, Gaurisagar police nabbed him at Phulpanichiga on NH-37 and seized 15 grams heroin from his procession. The value of the heroin is around Rs.10,000. A case no 76/2021 has been registered at Gaurisagar Police Station under section U/S 22(a) /27 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. In primary interrogation, Taikumlai Gogoi confessed that he had brought the heroin from Jorhat. Earlier on May 23, Gaurisagar police held two drugs peddlers ,namely Rubul Khan and Rupom Dey of Sivasagar and seized 12.660 grams brown sugar with cash Rs.18,820.
