Drugs seized; 4 peddlers held by Assam Police

SARUPATHAR: Based on secret input, four drug peddlers were apprehended in the border area of Golaghat and Karbi Anglong district at Barpathar, Simalu Chapori area under Dhansiri subdivision. The operation was led by Kulendra Nath, Sub-Inspector of Santipur, Barpathar police station in Karbi-Anglong district, and the officer-in-charge of Barpathar along with police team in Golaghat district.

Around 2.75 grams of suspected heroin were recovered from their possession. The peddlers were identified as Adeng Shyam (23) of Barpathar, Akash Tanti (23) of Karbi Anglong, Ongthun Thowmung (34) of Karbi-Anglong, and Raikom Rongphar (19) of Karbi Anglong. Police seized three plastic boxes containing heroin, three mobile handsets, Rs 9,710 cash from the accused. A case no. 11/2022 under section 21(b)/27 under the NDPS Act have been registered against them.
