SILCHAR: Despite strict vigil by district police, Cachar was regularly used as a safe passage by the international drug trafficking racket. The arrest of two Mizo women from Silchar town was an eye opener for the police as it proved that the desperate syndicate had begun to engage women to smuggle narcotic substances mainly brought from Myanmar. On Friday, Silchar police on the basis of intelligence inputs, recovered 25 soap cases containing 325 grams of brown sugar in front of a hotel near Mizoram Circuit House in Sonai Road area. Silchar Sadar police led by OC Amrit Kumar Singh arrested two Mizo women, both coming from the neighbouring State. The women were identified as Lalhmangaih alias Ahmai, 31 and Lalramliani alias Rummy, 28. Both were residents of Bawngkawn in Aizwal.
