Haflong: Celebrating the 64th Foundation day of Dimasa Students Union (DSU) as Dimasa Students’ Day, the Dimasa Students Union organized a day-long programme at Ringphai Langthasa Memorial playground, Mahur on Friday. The day’s programme started with hoisting of flag by DSU president Sidut Naiding and was followed by reception of delegates from various parts and offering homage to martyrs.
Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Sri Debolal Gorlosa as chief guest unveiled the DSU memory stone near Ringphai Langthasa Memorial playground, Mahur in presence of Chairperson Ranu Langthasa, Executive Members Samuel Changsan, Golonjo Thaosen, Chairman, Haflong Municipal Board, ADC, Dhrubajyoti Deb along with prominent personalities of Mahur.
CEM Gorlosa in his speech appreciated the endeavour of Dimasa Students Union members for their untiring and selfless service for the betterment of the student community, particularly of Dimasa community and also for maintaining brotherly relation with the students’ organizations of the district. He also advised that all the students or youth of Dima Hasao should be punctual, laborious, patient and courageous because now the time has changed and they have to face various challenges in every step of life. All other speakers also appreciated the DSU for their concern for the development of the district as well as students community and hoped that the DSU would go long way for the betterment of the district and its youths in particular.
General Secretary Pramith Sengyung, talking to the media said that the Dimasa Students Union had been spearheading the separate State movement under Article 244(A) since long and also one of the signatories of MoU dated April 1, 1995 after which the NCHAC has got as many as 30 departments and in today’s session, the main focus would be given to Article 244(A) along with other student related issues.
