SIVASAGAR: The five-day Durga Puja festivities came to an end on Friday with the immersion of idols passing off peacefully in Sivasagar. According to Sivasagar district administration sources, 20 Durga idols were immersed in Thana Ghat without any untoward incident. The organizers proceeded with the idols at Thana Ghat of Dikhow River.

The immersion began at 12:30 PM with the idol of historic Devi Dol. The Sivasagar district administration and Sivasagar Police had made elaborate arrangement of security to conduct the immersion process smoothly which ended at 3:30 PM. The entire process was supervised by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bitupan Neog, Assistant Commissioners Nuzhat Nasreen and Deepawoli Kurmi and DIPRO Syeda Hasnahana, among other officials of the district and police administration. Besides the district administration and police, personnel and volunteers from the civil defense and SDRF were also deployed to monitor the immersions.
