TANGLA: The Young Star Club, Sarabajanin Durga Puja Committee in Nobinpolly locality of Tangla town in Udalguri district has erected a massive pandal made completely out of bamboo materials. “Keeping in sync with the Swach Bharat Abhiyan as well as ban on plastic, we decided to build the mandap out of eco-friendly materials, though we had to shell out a good amount,” said the president of the committee.

Speaking about the expected turnout this year, he said there would be more than 10,000 visitors every day adding that all the necessary security arrangements, including roping in volunteers for crowd management, and CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the route leading to the venue. “There are 140 Durga Puja committees in Bhergaon subdivision of Udalguri with 40 in Tangla town. We have taken every possible precautionary measures in terms of safety and security of the revellers,” said Bhergaon Subdivisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirmal Ghosh.
