KALAIGAON: After two years of pandemic-related restrictions, residents of Kalaigaon are gearing up to celebrate the biggest festival of the State with full pomp and gaiety. Finally, the countdown for the 5-day-long festival of Durga Puja has already begun which celebration to be started from October 1.
The shops and markets have started to gather crowds already. Even, the puja committees have also started to decorate their pandals. More than thirty Sarbajanin Durga Puja committees are going to celebrate Durga Puja throughout the Kalaigaon area in this year where they have decorated the mandaps in different themes.
The Balipara Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee has also started the preparation for puja mandaps and idols with a budget of Rs. 2 lakhs. Every year they try new themes in their pandals due to which huge crowd gathers over there to offer their prayers. This year they are planning to make it on 'Mountain' theme.
However, the Bhehguri Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee has decided to organize folk dance and drama in every evening during the five days on the occasion of Durga Puja. The president of the Puja Committee, Gajendra Das said, "The artistes of folk dance are from Kochbihar and they will play Koch-Rajbangshi drama and Kushan dance."
