Dibrugarh: “As long as our education system fails to inspire young students to express their opinions and views freely, we will lag behind the western world in the domain of education,” said chief adviser of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharya while participating in a discussion on the education system recently as part of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the DHSK College. Hinting at the audacity of the Swedish 16-year-old girl, Greta Thunberg to voice her concerns vociferously before the world leaders, he envisioned a kind of education that would echo such free speeches here. He shed light on a few changes that must be brought into the education system, including change of syllabus, quality of education and infrastructure. He also mentioned the more than 500 posts of teachers that were lying vacant in the State. The discussion was also attended by noted educationist and teacher, Madan Sharma, who also shared his valuable opinions on the present education system. Many other dignitaries also graced the occasion.
