Educationist's Kamruj Zaman Ahmed demise condoled

DIBRUGARH: Retired teacher of Graham Bazar High School and an educationist, Kamruj Zaman Ahmed passed away on Wednesday at a local nursing home due to old-age ailments. He was 76.

Kamruz Zaman Ahmed is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son and a host of relatives and admirers. Born in March, 1944 Zaman had his primary education at Dighali Bazar Primary School and passed matriculation from Jorge Institution. After obtaining his graduation in Arts stream from DHSK College here, he started his career as a teacher in Graham Bazar High School in 1965. Zaman retired from the same school on March 31, 2002.

A prolific writer in both Assamese and English, Zaman was editor of a number of magazines and had written for several newspapers and magazines of the State. Scion of poet Mafiz Uddin Ahmed Hazarika, he was general secretary of Asom Jamiul Ulom Maddrassa for several years and was closely associated with several socio-cultural organizations.

His last rite was performed at Amolapatty Burial Ground maintaining COVID protocol. Zaman's death was condoled by a number of organizations, including Asom Jamiul Ulom Madrassa, Dibrugarh, Zakat and Imdad Foundation, Centre for Islamic Studies, Dibrugarh Idgah Committee, Naliapool Kabrastan Committee, Boga Baba Mazar Committee and Dibrugarh Hilal Committee.
