Electricity billing errors alleged by power consumers in Dudhnoi

DUDHNOI: A consumer's one month's electricity bill has come to Rs 12 lakh. Do you pay your electricity bills online? Be careful about bill payments from now on. There may be two electricity bills in a month.

Geeta Bala Rabha, a resident of Dudhnoi Thekasu Part - II block, had to face such an unfortunate situation. An electricity bill of Rs 12,28,826 was handed over to her on July 8. Geeta Bala Rabha, who regularly pays her bills, was shocked to see the bill amount because the bill for the month of May to be paid on July 1 was only Rs. 181 (Bill no- 900628602). But another bill came for the month of June with due date on July 8. The bill amount here (Bill no- 900664389) was Rs 12 lakh.

The electricity bill was sent to the consumer from the office of the Damra Electricity Sub-Division at Dudhnoi. Every day complaints are made in the electricity department office regarding various problems of the consumers. Some officers are also accused of negotiating with customers regarding exorbitant bills. Some angry customers cordoned off the electricity office of Dudhnoi last week due to anomalous bills and various problems faced by the customers.
