Elephant electrocuted in bordering area of Hojai and West Karbi Anglong district

Donkamukam: A male elephant was electrocuted on Monday morning in the bordering area of Hojai and West Karbi Anglong district near Tumpreng bridge. Sources informed that the incident took place early morning when some elephants belonging to a herd were scratching themselves on an electric post of 33000 kVA high tension wire making it swing to and fro. One elephant came in contact with the wire and was electrocuted. It then rolled into the Kopili River. Donkamukam Forest Rangers were informed who later recovered the dead elephant from the river and buried it near the river.
