BAKSA: On the basis of specific information received from intelligence set-up of 24th Bn SSB Rangia about the smuggling of ivory tusk by the smugglers at Indo-Bhutan Border area, Hrishikesh Sharma, Commandant 24th Bn SSB Rangia, deputed a Small Action Team (SAT) under the command of Inspector /GD Bhagat Ram to nab the criminals.

Acting on a tip-off, the Small Action Team raided on poachers on Wednesday evening at Daimabari village under Tamulpur Police Station and seized an elephant ivory tusk and apprehended two persons, namely Budhu Ram Murmu (26) and Sunil Murmu (23), son of Nikolosh Murmu of Daimabari village. Later, the seized items and apprehended persons were handed over to Forest Range Office of Kumarikata and a case was registered under Forest Act.

Rishikesh Sharma, Commandant of 24th Bn SSB Rangia, said that poachers were active in Daranga Reserve Forest Area and damaging the ecosystem by killing wild animals in the greed of making easy money. The 24th Bn SSB Rangia had apprehended a human trafficker a day before and rescued 13 persons, including two women, from Rangia Railway Station in a joint operation with RPF.
