Guwahati: In a bid to provide enough fodder to the wild elephants, a special restaurant has been opened in Hatikhuli Ronghag village situated along the Nagaon-Karbi Anglong border in Assam.
The restaurant provides favourite eatables to the elephants.
Reportedly, with the help of locals, agriculture departments and Assam's forest, a person named Pradeep Bhuyan, director of 'Hati Bondhu' started this initiative three years ago.
After offering a ceremonial puja, the locals of Hatikhuli Ronghang opened the area for the elephants to enjoy their favourite stuffs.
They also appreciated the efforts of 'Hati-Bondhu' for to cultivate the land for elephants to feed.
Notably, this will also help in reducing human-elephant conflict as now the elephants will get to eat their eatables at one place.
According to reports, the farmers in the region are now continuing their farming without the fear of elephants raid as there has been decline in elephant-human conflicts.
