Eminent educationist, journalist and human rights activist late Prof Sarat Mahanta remembered

Eminent educationist, writer, journalist and human rights activist late Prof Sarat Mahanta was remembered on his 11th death anniversary on Sunday. Sarat Mahanta besides being a former Head of the History Department at Sibsagar College, was a founder member and chief advisor of Sibsagar Press Club and a former Member of the Assam Human Rights Commission.

SIVASAGAR: Eminent educationist, writer, journalist and human rights activist late Prof Sarat Mahanta was remembered on his 11th death anniversary on Sunday. Sarat Mahanta besides being a former Head of the History Department at Sibsagar College, was a founder member and chief advisor of Sibsagar Press Club and a former Member of the Assam Human Rights Commission.

President of Sibsagar Press Club and Principal of Gargaon College Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta presided over the memorial meeting which was moderated by general secretary of the club Khalilur Rahman Hazarika. Speaking at the event organized by Sibsagar Press Club at the auditorium of the club on Sunday evening, Dr Saumarjyoti Mahanta, Principal of Sibsagar Commerce College said, Sarat Mahanta was not only a foundation pillar of Sibsagar Press Club but also a stalwart of the social life of Assam.

Describing Professor Sarat Mahanta as a true visionary, Dr Saumarjyoti Mahanta said that his life is an inspiration and his work will always remain as a role model for the future generation.
