Dibrugarh: A one-day sensitization workshop titled ‘The Future is Accessible’ on accessibility for persons with a disability was held at the District Training Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dibrugarh on Monday.
The sensitization workshop organized by Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre in association with the Dibrugarh district administration was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha. Inaugurating the workshop, DC Pallav Gopal Jha urged all present to work together to create a barrier-free environment for Persons with Disability (PwDs) by removing all physical, social, cultural and economic barriers that may prevent a PwD from living a life of dignity. He said the district administration was committed to building a barrier-free environment for all PwDs so that they could easily access all government offices and services. At the same time, he also appealed to government department officials to take up initiatives to ensure all eligible beneficiaries belonging to the PwD category could avail of the benefits of various government schemes.
Dibrugarh Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Diganta Saikia, District Development Commissioner Sanjoy Dutta, Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre chairperson Amiya Pathak Borpujari, Disability Law Unit, Northeast co-ordinator Ambalika Senapati and heads of various government departments and others took part in the workshop.
