KOKRAJHAR: The Employment Review Committee (ERC) of Assam Legislative Assembly consisted of 8 members including its chairman Lawrence Islary, MLA of 30- Kokrajhar Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) visited Chirang district on Monday evening.

As part of their tour programme, as soon as they arrived in the district the committee held discussion with the authorities of Indian Oil Corporations Limited (IOCL), Bongaigaon Refinery to take stock of their overall activities, the steps being taken by them for the employment of local people and employment generation plan at IOCL Guest House, Dhaligaon. The committee asked the IOCL authorities to ensure 90 percent employment to local youths as per the Office Memorandum of Assam Legislative Assembly.

On Tuesday, the committee undertook spot visit at BGR plan of Dhaligaon and assessed the functioning of various units of the plant. Then the committee held a meeting with the in-charge Chirang DC, ADC Khanindra Das and other officials of tourism, power, industries, skill development departments and District Lead Bank Manager and reviewed their works, including job opportunities created by them for the local people in the district in the conference hall of Hotel Signet at Chapaguri.

While talking to media, Lawrence Islary, Chairman, Employment Review Committee said that Assam government had taken every possible steps for giving employment to all educated unemployed youths. He hoped that all the authorities of the departments and industries would take appropriate steps to recruit local people as per norms of the government, especially while giving employment in the third and fourth grade posts.
