Environmental Group Organizes Bicycle Rally in Bongaigaon

BONGAIGAON: In a bid to save the Golden Langur, a rare species monkey, ‘Friends of Golden Langur’, an environmental organization organized a bicycle rally on Tuesday at Bongaigaon district. The rally started from Abhayapuri college and moved through different places of Abhayapuri and Bongaigaon town. They conducted an awareness programme infront of Bongaigaon DC Office. Talking to media, Bishal Chakraborty, a nature lover and member of ‘Friends of Golden Langur’ said that the rally covered about 60 kilometres today. “We oppose the plan of Government to pass high voltage electric line through Bhairabchura Hill Reserved Forest which is a living place of Golden langur. This high voltage electric line should be installed through different a path without touching Bhairabchura Hill Reserved Forest,” Chakraborty said.
