Essential services will be available during lockdown, assures CM Sarbananda Sonowal

LAKHIMPUR: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal declared that the State Government had taken up all necessary measures to secure the people of the State regarding their basic needs during the 21-day long lockdown period. “We will not let the people of the State face problems during the lockdown period. Our government has adopted all kinds of necessary measures so that the people of the State do not face any problem while observing the lockdown initiated for human health,” said the Chief Minister while interacting with the media persons of Lakhimpur at the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises on Thursday.

During the interaction, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal once again appealed to the people of the State to take the lockdown initiative seriously and to adhere to its guidelines sincerely in order to fight against the fatal COVID-19.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people of the nation in order to make the 21-day lockdown successful. In Assam, we are also appealing the same to the people of the State. In order to avert the infection of the highly contagious COVID-19, we must maintain social distancing and there is no other alternative to it. So, the health department’s guidelines, and the instructions of the lockdown should be observed by all in order to break the very chain of infection of the pandemic,” he said.

The Chief Minister took part in a review meeting at the Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner’s office in connection with the precautionary measures taken to fight against COVID-19 covering Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts. Prior to it, Sonowal took part in a similar meeting in Tezpur organized covering Sonitpur and Biswanath districts.
