Veteran actor Dilip Ranjan Dutta passed away today morning

The 59- year-old Assam’s renowned theatre personality Dilip Ranjan Dutta passed away at Jorhat Mission hospital on Wednesday. For the last few months, he was suffering and was admitted to the hospital last week. Dutta was a noted theatre artist of Bhramyaman Theatre.

Raktim Das, a theatre actor said Dutta’s death is an irreparable loss to Assam’s mobile theatre world. For more than decades, Dutta has been a part of several mobile theatres including Kohinoor, Bhagyadevi, and Mukanda. Some of his notable works are Ashlil, Jalpadma, Maharaja, etc.

Das further added that his powerful performances in plays like Bhoi, Xagoroloi Bohu Durr, and Maharaja will always remain fresh in everyone’s memory. Condolence messages mourning his death have poured in from across the state.
