Excise raid conducted; liquor seized in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: Acting on a tip-off, an extensive excise search, patrolling and raid was conducted on Tuesday in Makum Bagan Tiniali, Station Para areas under Margherita police station.

The exercise was jointly conducted by the excise staff of Margherita and Digboi Excise Circles under the direct supervision of Prasanta Dutta, DSE, Margherita. Two persons were arrested, namely Dipak Kumar Sah (34) of Makum Bagan Tiniali, Margherita (Case no.MRG/Ex/2022/56) and Sashi Kanta Pandey (45) of Station Para, Margherita, (Case No.MRG/Ex/2022/57).

As per the recorded statement, the accused bought liquor from Arunachal Pradesh and re-bottled the same liquor in bottles marked 'For sale in Assam only' and used to sell them in the local market.

About 27.24 litres of IMFL (suspected Arunachal Pradesh Liquor), Beer-3.25 BL, 49 empty bottles and 57 bottle caps were seized and destroyed in the operation by the excise team.
