Excise raids conducted in Guwahati, Four Arrested, 100 litres of illicit liquor seized

Guwahati: The Excise Department conducted raids at various places in the Guwahati city like Kachari Basti, Athgaon, Bhootnath on Sunday and seized approximately 100 litres of illicit liquors.

Four persons have been arrested in the city during the raids. One person apprehended from Kachari Basti, another from Athgaon and rest two from Bhootnath area.

A case was registered against the 4 persons under Section-53 of AE (Amendment) Act 2018.

Also, 7 cases were registered under section 61 for consumption in public places.

It may be mentioned that the State Excise, Fisheries and Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya earlier on Saturday reviewed the functioning of the Excise department in all districts through video conferencing.

Accordingly, the minister has instructed all concerned to exercise maximum vigil against any possible violation of the law and to continue to maintain vigorous drives to check and control all excise offenses.
