Excise Raids in Nazira's Tea Estates By Ashutosh Baruah

GAURISAGAR: An excise team led by Ashutosh Baruah, Inspector of Excise, Nazira, carried out raids on October 6 at Mekipur Tea Estate, Mekipur Bazar, Galaky Tea Estate, near ONGC Colony Gate, Ligiripukhuri area, Nazira town, Simoluguri town, Madhuri Tea Estate, near Simoluguri Puja pandal and other places. A total of five cases were detected and two accused persons were arrested. The team seized and destroyed 27.300 litres of IMFL and beer, 2.600 litres of country liquor and 18 litres of IDL under Section 53 (1)a and 53 (2)c of the Assam Excise Act, 2018. The seizure report was sent to the government online. Between the period from September 21 to October 6, a total of 13 raids and five arms raids were conducted. Further, a total of 58 cases were detected and 13 persons involved were arrested. Moreover, two persons were sent to jail between the period from September 21 to October 6.
