Extensive programmes in connection with G-20, Y-20 Summits get underway in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Government of India has initiated extensive programmes across the nation in connection with 2023 G-20 Summit. According to the report, the upcoming summit will be the highest-profile international gathering ever to be hosted by India. The nation will host over 200 meetings in over 50 cities across 32 different work streams. The theme of India's G-20 Presidency "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" or "One Earth, One Family, One Future" closely ties with LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). Report says that the Government of India, during its one-year tenure of G-20 presidency, will showcase the North-East part of the country which is noted for its breathtaking beauty, rich cultural heritage and natural resources. Meetings in connection with the summit will also be held in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. On the other hand, the first ever Y-20 (Youth 20) Summit will also be held in India on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit, which will focus on themes of future of work; climate change and disaster risk reduction; peacebuilding and reconciliation; and youth in democracy.

In this connection, the Government of Assam along with the rest of the country has geared up for the crucial G-20 and Y-20 meet with initiatives of organizing various meetings, seminars, different competitions. The seminars and meetings will focus on health, labour, finance, environment, education, climate change etc.

Synchronizing with the State government's initiatives, the Lakhimpur district administration has also taken up extensive steps to organize such awareness and Y-20 preparatory programmes across the district. In this context, the district administration held a crucial meeting on Friday in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissione's office. The district administration has engaged the Madhavdev University as model institutions for holding the preparatory seminars and competitions.

In the district, the competitions and seminars in this connection kickstarted on Monday with a quiz competition held by Madhavdev University. The quiz competition was organized purely on G-20 Summit. The students of the Madhavdev University, Bihpuria College, Lakhimpur Girls' College, Kherajkhat College, Sankardev Mahavidyalay, Laluk College, Pub Dikrong College, Lohit Dikrong HS School and Madhavdev Collegiate High School took part in the quiz competition.
