LAKHIMPUR: In the wake of spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, the extensive Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) drive conducted by the Health Department continues across Lakhimpur district. This drive was launched under Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP) in order to break the very chain of the community transmission and to separate the asymptomatic COVID-19 patients in the suspected areas. As a part of it, the District Health Department conducted the RAT at North Lakhimpur urban area, Dhakuakhana town and ASTC campus, Laluk Center and Bihpuriya center, Harmoti on Wednesday and Thursday.
During the drive, a total of 63 COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Wednesday while 49 cases were detected on Thursday as per RAT result. On the other hand, 10 positive cases were detected in the district on these two days as per the result of the 'real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test' reported from Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh. With these patients, a total of 122 new positive cases were reported in the district during last 48 hours.
