Karimganj police got information from local traders that they were being threatened by a person claiming himself as CBI officer and demanding bribe. He even threatened to seal the concerned shops and would send the erring traders to jail.
Police used mobile tracking technology to trace the culprits. As it turned out the call was made from the mobile phone of Dilowar. Police nabbed him from Ratabari. On the basis of interrogation, police later arrested Rashid. Police secured enough evidence to confirm that Rashid, who did his graduation in Law from Bangalore, was the one impersonating as a CBI officer demanding money from traders. However why he got into extortion was yet to be ascertained. Police was reportedly carrying out investigation to find out the number of traders Rashid had duped so far.
