Fake currency notes worth Rs 3 lakh recovered in Goalpara district

GOALPARA: At least two teams of Goalpara district police, following a secret tip-off on Wednesday evening, recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 3 lakh at Paikan area on NH-17. The Agia and Krishnai police stations, after receiving the information of a probable fake currency transaction, set up a check point on NH-17 near Paikan. According to information, after hours of waiting, the police spotted two miscreants approaching the check point with a motor bike. As the police ordered them to stop, they tried to escape by firing at the police. The police counter fired in defence. However, the miscreants managed to flee from the scene by leaving behind their bike. Later, police recovered fake currency notes worth about Rs 3 lakh from the bike. A Wagon R vehicle was also recovered by police from the scene.
