Assam: Fake Gold and Currency Notes Seized; Iyanush Ali and Bhoirabi Held

JAMUGURIHAT: Acting on a tip-off, a team of Jamuguri police apprehended Iyanush Ali from Kachamari, Bhoirabi on the south-western part of Jamugurihat on Tuesday night along with fake notes of Rs 500 denomination.

A total of 24 currency notes of Rs 500 denomination were recovered from his possession, informed a police source. Iyanush was arrested immediately. At the same time, a team of Jamuguri police managed to apprehend one Kasem Ali from Bharali Chapari, on the western part of Jamugurihat on Wednesday afternoon along with a boat made of fake gold. Illegal trade of fake gold and fake currency notes has been on the rise, especially in the sar areas of Jamugurihat for a long time.
