False alarm: COVID-19 positive case a hoax

TINSUKIA: A COVID-19 positive case detected through Aarogya Setu app in Tinsukia, which was circulated on social media including a web portal, created panic in Tinsukia since Sunday. However, it turned out to be fake and hoax. The Joint Director of Health Services, Tinsukia in a press release on Monday, clarified that in Tinsukia district as on Monday, there was no record of positive case of COVID-19. On investigation of alleged claimed report, it appeared to be a case of either wrong reporting by the user of the Aarogya Setu app or an issue with the app, the release stated, adding that 'most likely it seems to be a hoax call rather than a fault in the app'. The release mentioned that further investigation was being mulled in line with legal punitive action and there could be no reason for citizens of Tinsukia district to panic
