KOKRAJHAR: A farewell meeting was organized by Bodoland University (BU) on the occasion of Superannuation of Dr. Harekrishna Sahoo, Director of Students’ Welfare (DSW) on Monday. Officers, faculties, employees and students bade emotional farewell to Dr. Sahoo. Dr. Sahoo joined as lecturer in Rangapara college in August 8, 1988 and was selected as principal in the same college in 2012. Apart from academic life he had his career of social and religious activities with the cosmopolitan communities of the locality with a good name and fame. He started rath yatra in and around Rangapara. He joined as Director of Students Welfare in Bodoland University on July 1, 2014 and also served the university with additional charge of Academic Registrar and Registrar. He was the founder coordinator of NSS and organized Pre-RD, Special and Regular camps from time to time. He initiated in bringing greenery to the university campus taking all the students, employees, officers and faculties. With his initiative an ATM (SBI) and a branch of SBI was approved by the Mumbai head office . His contributions in sanctioning a women hostel and an auditorium from the local government is highly applaudable. With simplicity, honesty and sincerity he won the hearts of university community and the public around. His farewell from the institution saddened the university fraternity and the public as well.
Harekrishna Sahoo said, “I have started my job from Rangapara College as a teacher , as Principal of the college and later joined DSW post in Bodoland University in Kokrajhar Assam and retired from service on April 30, 2023.” Dr. Sahoo has dedicatedly served the community of students. Sahoo hails from Puri, Odisha state. VC of Bodoland University Prof. Laisram Ladung Singh said that Dr. Sahoo had a great personality and is a simple, hardworking person.
