MORIGAON: With the slogan 'Sabka saath, sabka vikas', the BJP came to power in the State and the Centre. The BJP-led Central and State governments have now come under the scanner because of its alleged anti-people policies.

Both governments are playing politics against the farmers ahead of the upcoming assembly election in the State. The Modi government is adopting alleged anti-farmer policies while the Sonowal government is announcing new schemes for farmers ahead of the assembly election. Farmers are suffering because they are not getting a market to sell their bodo paddy for which they are forced to sell their bodo paddy at lower prices.

The deadline for paddy procurement process by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) is already over. The FCI had assured to do paddy procurement since September 15. Now the farmers have become bankrupt as they cannot repay loans taken from banks and other sources. The farmers have expressed disappointment over the alleged apathy of the State Agriculture Minister.

The anti-CAA-protest, COVID-19 pandemic and the recent flood situation added to the woes of the farmers. The condition of farmers is quite pathetic, especially those of Mayong, Baha, Laharighat and Bhurbandh.
