Farmers to Interact Agriculture Experts through Video Conference at Darrang District

MANGALDAI: The farmers of Darrang district are going to interact directly with the agriculture experts through the video conferencing facility for the first time in the State. Bringing high hope to the farmers here on the very auspicious day of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ and in this festive season of autumn, ‘Natun Asha’(New Hope), an NGO formed by a committed and dedicated agri entrepreneurs and experts of the State has recently inaugurated the ‘Gramya Gyan Kendra’ (GGK) at village Bihudiya of Kharupetia in Darrang district.

Progressive young organic farmer and exporter of green organic vegetables namely Habib Rahman, Ashadulla Ahcon, Jahangir Alom and their farmer colleagues have extended all support and cooperation for opening up of the GGK and also provided the accommodation in the village. Teacher of high repute Abdul Aziz in presence of Nayan Kr. Bora, Dipak Kr. Neog and Shankaracharyya Rabha of ‘Natun Asha’ ceremonially inaugurated the GGK and its proposed video conferencing hall. A total of three hundred farmers from various corners of the district took part in the inaugural function.

The NGO has already launched a website at www. seujchinta.com where the interested farmers and others will be able to get all the required information on agriculture, horticulture etc., in Assamese language. The NGO has also decided to open up GGK with video conferencing facility for the farmers at Golaghat and Dima Hasao districts.

Talking to The Sentinel at his organic farm at village Bihudiya at Kharupetia on Thursday evening, promising organic farmer and first exporter of green vegetables Habib Rahman said that the NGO has come forward with the unique and novel idea of arranging the video conferencing facility for the rural farmers of the State for the first time. Besides that, the NGO is going to produce high quality seed locally in Assam so that the rural farmers of the State could be self sufficient who would also get the seeds at a very reasonable rate. Mention may be made here that the flourishing business of the supplying of seeds to the farmers has no control of the State Agriculture department and the farmers have been compelled to purchase the seed at a very high rate.
