GUWAHATI:In Rabi season (2022-23), a two-day Human Resource Development (HRD) programme was conducted by the Regional Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (RCIPMC), Guwahati. The programme was conducted at village Burha Mayang at Mayong in the Morigaon district on Thursday and Friday.
A total of 55 participants attended the programme, out of which 25 were female. Ravi Laxmigudi, Plant Protection Officer (Entomology), and his team of Regional Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Guwahati, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage attended the programme. Thefarmers were trained on the judicious use of chemical pesticides and encouragedto use bio-control agents like Trichoderma viride, Beauvaria bassiana, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Trichogramma spp. andnaturally produced botanicals (bio-pesticides like Neem, Karanj based bio-pesticide) through Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques.
During the training, different IPM techniques from seed sowing to harvest of crop were discussed. Different techniques of weed management were also shown, stated a press release.
