BISWANATH CHARIALI: A programme was organized on Sunday by the Regional Research Centre for Citrus (RRCC) at Biswanath Chariali in which 106 farmers from Biswanath, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Tinsukia districts registered for training.

The programme was inaugurated by chief guest Pranav Kumar Sarma, Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, while Dr. BK Pandey, Assistant Director General (Horticultural Science), ICAR, presided over the function. Dr. R.N. Burman, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr. A.C. Barbora, former Head, Citrus Research Station, Tinsukia and MG Sahu, Subdivisional Agricultural Officer, Biswanath were present. Progressive farmers Jyothi Das from Moralgaon (Biswanath district) and Bhaben Saikia from Narayanpur (Lakhimpur district) were felicitated. The dignitaries also released a documentary video on RRCC, publication on high density planting of acid lime, management of Khasi mandarin and Assam lemon.

Deputy Director General (Horticultural Sciences), ICAR, delivered a message from Delhi and he informed that ICAR would be providing funds up to Rs.1.5 crore for disease-free planting material for nursery infrastructure at Biswanath Chariali. Farmers got the solutions for their cultivation problems in Assam lemon and Khasi mandarin. The farm office building of RRCC (ICAR-CCRI) was inaugurated where Dr. M.S. Ladaniya, Director RRCC (ICAR-CCRI), Dr. BK Pandey, ADG (Hort.Sci.), ICAR and Dr. R.N. Burman were present. Farmers also visited the new plantations methods at the farm of RRCC.
