Assam: Fatal Clash as Irate Locals Take Law into Their Hands Over Cattle Rustling

GUWAHATI: In the Ahatguri area of Morigaon, Assam, an unfortunate incident unfolded on Tuesday, escalating tensions and leading to fatal consequences. Irate locals took the law into their own hands, beating three individuals whom they suspected to be cattle rustlers. The incident triggered a violent confrontation with the police, resulting in further injuries.

According to sources, the situation started when angered residents discovered three individuals they believed were involved in cattle rustling. Without waiting for the authorities, the furious mob decided to take matters into their own hands. They unleashed a violent attack on the alleged rustlers, resulting in severe injuries to them.

Upon receiving information about the ongoing assault, the police swiftly rushed to the scene, intending to intervene and restore order. However, the situation had already spiraled out of control, and the mob turned their aggression towards the police officers. The irate crowd pelted stones at the police, obstructing their efforts to rescue the suspects and avoid a more tragic outcome.

Despite the police's attempts to reason with the angry locals and request that they hand over the suspects for a proper investigation, the mob remained unreceptive and driven by their fury. In the chaos, one of the alleged cattle rustlers, identified as Saddam Hussain, lost his life on the spot. The other two suspects, Billal Ali and Mizarul Haque, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition for urgent medical attention.

Tragically, the violence didn't spare the police officers either. One of the officials present at the scene suffered injuries as the mob continued to vent their anger on law enforcement.
