DOOMDOOMA: Smritilekha, the felicitation book published on the occasion of the 79th birthday of renowned litterateur and a retired education officer, Jogendra Nath Baruah at a solemn programme held at his residence situated at Gyanjyoti Path of Bishnu Nagar, Rupai Siding here on Monday.

The book which was edited by renowned writer Sarat Chandra Chiringphukan, was formally inaugurated by noted author and former Principal of Doomdooma College, Dr. Prafulla Medhi. The programme was chaired by the president of Tinsukia Zila Sahitya Sabha Arjun Baruah and was inaugurated by former Vice-Principal of Doomdooma College, Beena Devi Bordoloi by lighting of the ceremonial lamp and rendering a Saraswati Vandana. People from different walks of life greeted Jogendra Nath Baruah on his birthday.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Prafulla Medhi, associate professor of Doomdooma College, Deepak Ranjan Baruah, assistant professor of Sivasagar Girls' College, Kakoli Baruah, writers Dipti Thakur Goswami and Supriti Baruah, journalist Abhijit Khataniar, Principal of Modern Academy High School, Prabhat Bikomiya Deori and several others spoke on various aspects of Jogendra Nath Baruah's life and works. In reply, Baruah thanked all and said that the love from people always inspired him to write.
