Female voters with 74.95 percent turnout outshine males

LAKHIMPUR: Finally, the poll turnout in Lakhimpur House of Peoples Constituency (HPC) rose up to 74.82 per cent. The turnout of the HPC up to 5pm in the first phase poll of the parliamentary election held on Thursday was 65.10 per cent as per report found from the office of the Returning Officer. But many electors who had been standing in the queue at various polling stations under nine LACs of the parliamentary constituency taking their place before 5pm, had to cast their votes resulting in the variability of the figure.
As per report found from the Returning Officer’s office on Friday, a total of 12,75,273 out of 17,04,447 electors covering the nine LACs of the HPC cast their franchise on Thursday registering a 74.82 per cent overall turnout. Significantly, the turnout of female voters in the HPC is greater than that of the male voters. A total of 6,27,886 female voters out of 8,37,730, accounting for 74.95 percent turnout, sealed the fate of eleven candidates in fray. On the other hand, 6,47,387 male voters out of 8,66,675, marking 74.70 percent turnout, came out to press the EVM button in the election.
In five Assembly fragments in the HPC, female voters outshined the male taking part in the polling process. These LACs are Dhakuakhona, Dhemaji, Jonai, Doomdooma and Sadiya. In Dhakuakhana LAC, 1,41,443 voters out of 1,96,330 exercised their franchise with 74.04 percent turnout while the turnout of polling by female voters is 72.10 and the turnout by male voters is 71.99 percent. On the other hand, 83,361 male voters out of 1,20,742 with 69.04 percent turnout and 83,354 female voters out of 1,17150 with 69.04 percent turnout cast vote in Dhemaji LAC. Similarly, 1,04,827 female voters out of 1,39,049 with 75.38 percent turn out cast their votes in Jonai LAC outshining the male voters. The turn out of male voters in the LAC is 73.62 percent with 1,07,759 poll out of 1,46,371 voters.
A total of 56,100 female voters out of 72,234 accounting for 77.65 percent turnout cast their voted in Doomdooma LAC wherein turnout of poll by male voters is 77.41 percent with 56,416 polls out of 72,884 voters. In Sadiya LAC, 62,524 female voters out of 62524 with 72.15 percent turnout and 64,302 male voters out of 90,734 with 70.87 percent turnout cast their votes.
A total of 90,991 voter out of 1,26,285 in Majuli LAC, 1,73,886 voters out of 2,06,280 in Naoboicha LAC, 1,33,683 voters out of 1,79,489 in Lakhimpur LAC, and 1,16,647 voters out of 1,50,216 in Chabua LAC cast their votes to determine the fate of the candidates in fray in the HPC.
