JAMUGURIHAT: As Mahalaya began from Wednesday, people from all sections of Jamugurihat are ready to welcome Goddess Durga and to celebrate Durga Puja.

The office bearers and members of various Puja celebration committees of Jamugurihat are busy in necessary arrangements. The festive mood has gripped the people and shops are overcrowded with people these days. Last year Durga Puja celebration had been affected by the COVID pandemic. But this year, with the government allowing Puja celebrations with certain restrictions, there is much excitement and enthusiasm among people.

According to information, a total of 25 pujas will be organized in and around the greater Jamugurihat, including Jamugurihat commercial centre, Karchantala, Dhalaibil, Marisuti, Rangachakuwa, Towbhanga, Balijuri, Tupiya, Gamiripal, Dipatola and Samar Dalani. There will be four pujas at Jamuguri centre, with one completing 104 years of inception. Puja celebration committees are busy in last-minute preparations and idol makers are giving final touches to idols.
