HAFLONG: Financial assistance to the students belonging to BPL families was distributed by Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), Debolal Gorlosa at a ceremony held at Dishru Cultural Club, Maibang on Wednesday.

A total amount of Rs. 47, 70,150 was distributed to the school managing committees of four schools. CEM Gorlosa handed over the cheques of financial assistance to the School Managing Committee of Sainja Valley High School, Ever Green High School, PVM High School and Janaring Hindu Academy High School.

According to CEM Gorlosa, this gesture was to provide financial assistance to those students who belong from BPL families from the Maibang (E), Maibang (W), and Kalachand constituencies. The objective of the programme is to support one student from each BPL family to pursue their academic dreams and establish themselves as successful individuals.

Altogether, there were 325 students from which 106 students are from Sainja Valley High School, 48 students from Ever Green High School, 51 students from PVM High School and 120 from Janaring Hindu Academy High School.

Realizing the importance of education as a pathway to a brighter future, CEM Debolal Gorlosa said that he would extend all possible help to the students so that they can complete their studies, including academic progress, career aspirations and any specific challenges which they might be facing. Moreover, he emphasized on the value of education by highlighting the need to make education a forceful tool for cultivation of social and moral values. The programme was attended by Ratan Jarambusa, EM DHAC, Bijit Langthasa, EM DHAC, and others.
