KOKRAJHAR/ BONGAIGAON: Four widows were given financial assistance under Chief Minister's Covid-19 Widow Support Scheme in Chirang district on Thursday.
In this connection, a meeting was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner' office at Kajalgaon, in which attending as chief guest, Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumtary distributed cheques worth Rs 2.5 lakh to each of the four beneficiaries.
Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, Narendra Kumar Shah delivered the welcome address at the meeting. He said that the Chief Minister's Covid- 19 Widow Support Scheme and Prathana Scheme were adopted by the government to provide financial relief to all the families affected by the COVID pandemic. He urged all the family affected by COVID in the district to contact the district administration if they have been excluded from the scheme.
In his speech, Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumtary said that it was not possible to get back the heads or income earners of the family who died in the COVID pandemic but the State Government had taken measures to provide some financial relief to those families. He also mentioned that a total of 21 beneficiaries had been given cheques of Rs 2.5 lakh under the scheme in the district so far.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Sarmah, Circle Officer of Bijni Revenue Circle Maria Tanim, Assistant Commissioner Rakhishree Lekharu and other officials were present at the meeting.
