FIR against one for uploading objectionable comments against mediapersons

TINSUKIA: Ramoni Buragohain on behalf of the mediapersons of Digboi lodged an FIR against Prasenjit Kumar Dhar of Shivbari Digboi at Digboi Police Station for uploading objectionable comment using slang and vulgar words from his own Facebook account against mediapersons in social media following publication of a news item relating to sensational gang rape case of teenaged girl in Digboi. The FIR No 271/2018 has been registered against Dhar u/s 294 IPC R/W Sec 66A Information and Technology Act 2000.

The FIR stated that Prasenjit Kumar Dhar while supporting the act of 4 alleged rapists who perpetrated the crime on Maha Asthami indulged in defamatory exercise against mediapersons of Digboi that tarnished the image of fourth pillar of democracy.

It may be mentioned here that on the night of Maha Asthami four persons- Subham Das (18), Ajay Pandey (20), Akash Chakraborty (20) and Dhruba Gogoi (18), all of Muliabari New Settlement Area, Digboi, forcibly kidnapped a teenaged girl from near Sishu Niketan School and allegedly gang raped her. After committing the heinous crime, the alleged 4 rapists fled from the scene and later the patrolling security personnel rescued the girl and handed over to Digboi police. Following her complaint, the police picked up the four accused and sent them to jail.
