Guwahati: Assam Police registered an FIR against Markazul Ma'arif, another non-governmental organisation (NGO) of Badruddin Ajmal group. A complaint was filed against the NGO by a right-wing leader, Satya Ranjan Borah. He accused the NGO of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) violation.

The NGO has been booked under FCRA violation under the sections 120B and 124A of Indian Penal Code (IPC), and section 33A/B of FCRA for suspected terror link with offshore funding sources.

The Legal Rights Observatory shared the information about the filing of an FIR via Twitter on Sunday afternoon.

"#BREAKING Acting on complaint of@satyaranjanbora, Hojai @assampolice registered FIR against Markazul Maarif, another @BadruddinAjmal NGO accused of #FCRAViolation under IPC Sec 120B, 124A n FCRA Sec 33A/B for suspected terror related offshore funding sources @himantabiswa," LRO tweeted.

Earlier this week, LRO revealed a piece of shocking information that Ajmal Foundation led by the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal receives funds from various non-governmental organisations (NGOs), which have a link with terrorist groups.

LRO is a legal rights organisation, which is affiliated with the Hindu-nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. It also listed the NGOs who have given fund to Ajmal Foundation.

On Thursday, leader Satya Ranjan Borah also filed an FIR against Ajmal Foundation for receiving funds for the foundation from foreign agencies, allegedly linked to terrorist groups. He lodged the FIR with the Dispur Police Station, based on the report of LRO.

Borah alleged in the FIR that, "Ajmal Foundation, an organisation run by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, chief of AIUDF, is being funded by some foreign agencies which are related to funding different terrorist groups and their terror activities as reported by an NGO Legal Rights Observatory. Considering the report, we want proper investigation in this connection under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act… Ajmal Foundation has misused those foreign funds in several anti-national activities."
