TINSUKIA/DIGBOI: Much to the need of Digboi constituency, a Fire & Emergency Service Station (Ad-hoc) was inaugurated at Tingrai play ground on the outskirts of Digboi on Monday in presence of leading citizens of Digboi. Inaugurating the temporary station, the MLA of Digboi Suren Phukan said in the event of any fire related disaster in Digboi and its vicinity, fire tenders have to be brought from distant places like Margherita and Tinsukia.

Presently the fire service station is being equipped with 2 fire engines, fire fighting tools, extinguishers and 2 rooms, he said adding that he raised the issue in last Assembly session on March 21 and he praised the CM for approving the proposal within a week. A plot of land measuring 2 bighas has been acquired in Borbil where a permanent station will come up within a year, Phukan informed. The Superintendent of Police Abhijit Gurav, ADC Tinsukia Sushanta Dutta, former Sibsagar DC Lakhinandan Gogoi, Digboi OC Dibya Jyoti Gogoi, social workers Mallika Phukan, Lolit Gogoi were present among others.
