First Digestor Package of 260MT of Assam Bio Refinery Sails From Kolkata

Guwahati: The first Digestor package of 260 MT of Assam Bio-Refinery has sailed from Kolkata for Silghat, Assam.

This will open up the Brahmaputra riverway for Cargo transportation.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter on Tuesday, the Managing Director (MD) of Numaligarh Refinery Restricted (NRL), SK Barua, said, ''The first Digestor package of 260 MT of Assam Bio-Refinery has sailed off today from Kolkata to Silghat Assam.

This will open up the Brahmaputra riverway for Cargo transportation.''

Retweeting this tweet, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, said, ''Indeed a positive news. Very happy.''

Notably, dredging works at essential junctures of the river had been initiated by the Ministry of Ports, Delivery, and Waterways.

''Wheels of prosperity via waterways, set in motion. Wonderful news for the #NorthEast as cargo movement via NWs gets boosted'', Union Minister Sonowal tweeted.
