SILCHAR: At least five pilgrims have died at Bhuban hill when they were climbing up to celebrate Shivaratri. On Wednesday, the bodies of three persons were recovered at the roadside of Bhuban. They have been identified as Anand Ghatowar, 37 of Chandranathpur, Sanjay Das, 37 of Gumra Khelma. The other bodies could not be identified. On Tuesday a youth from Silchar town died of cardiac arrest on his way to the Shiva temple atop Bhuban hill. He was identified as Bikram Paul. Another unidentified body of a lady was also found on Tuesday.

This year Shiva Chaturdashi at Bhuban hill returned to its usual festive mood after two years of the pandemic. Cachar administration had arranged tight security as well as all possible facilities for the pilgrims. Yet the inevitable tragedy happened.
