LAKHIMPUR: A total of five meritorious students have brought laurels to the district with their outstanding performances in High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam, 2023. As per the result declared by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) on Monday, Rajib Paul of Sonapur Pukhuria High School of Laluk grabbed the fourth position while Kinnori Dutta of St. Mary’s High School, North Lakhimpur has secured the fifth rank. On the other hand, Kuldip Hazarika of Dhalpur Higher Secondary School has secured the eighth rank while Palok Jajoo of Brookfield School, North Lakhimpur and Ankita Saikia of St. Mary’s High School, North Lakhimpur have jointly secured the ninth position among the toppers of the State.
With his outstanding result, Rajib Paul has proved that poverty cannot be a hurdle in the way of illuminating one’s own talent. He is the second son of Amulya Paul and Sumitra Paul, residents of Sonapur under Laluk area, who make both ends meet by pottery. Rajib scored 97 in English, 94 in General Mathematics, 100 in General Science, 100 in Social Science, 100 in Geography and 100 in Assamese. He wants to be a doctor to serve the poor and needy in future. He is interested in reading books. He prepared for the HSLC exam by thoroughly studying his text books whenever he got time.
Fifth rank holder Kinnori Dutta is the daughter of Pranab Dutta, a businessman, and Nilakshi Dutta, a teacher of Lilabari High School. She secured a total of 590 marks with 92 in Assamese, 98 in English, 100 in General Mathematics, 100 in General Science, 100 in Social Science and 100 in Advance Mathematics. Her overall percentage is 98.33. She has cherished a dream to be a doctor and now is undergoing coaching of the course of class eleven.
Another meritorious and hardworking student of Lakhimpur, Kuldip Hazarika has also set example with his brilliant result overcoming the miserable conditions of life. Kuldip is the second son of Manika Das Hazarika of Dhalpur, who was relinquished by her wretched husband when Kuldeep was only two years old. Since then, Kuldip’s maternal uncle Mintu Das has taken care of his family and he has been brought up under the magnanimity of Mintu Das. Despite his all odds, Kuldip managed to secure 97 in Assamese, 97 in English, 98 in General Science, 100 in General Mathematics, 100 in Advanced Mathematics and 95 in Social Science. He has secured a total of 587 marks with 97.83 as overall percentage. Kuldip, who is popular in his school and in his native area for his modesty, has still not decided where he would study the Higher Secondary Course.
Ninth rank holder Palok Jajoo is the student of Brookfield School, located in North Lakhimpur town. She is the daughter of Pradip Jajoo, a businessman, and Rajani Jajoo. Palok secured a total of 586 marks with 97.66 as overall percentage. As per result, she grabbed 97 in English, 94 in General Science, 97 in Social Science, 100 in General Mathematics and 100 in 98 in Hindi and 100 in Computer Science. Palok wants to be a Chartered Accountant and she will study in Commerce Stream.
On the other hand, Ankita Saikia of St. Mary’s High School, North Lakhimpur secured 95 in English, 95 in Assamese, 98 in General Mathematics, 100 in Advanced Mathematics, 100 in General Science and 98 in Social Science. Ankita is the daughter of Dr. Bubul Kumar Saikia, the Principal of LTK College, and Dr. Baby Chetia, Subject Teacher of Mathematics at Brahmaputra Valley Academy and residents of North Lakhimpur town. Ankita has cherished a dream to be a professor to work in the academic field. The students, teachers, and local people took out rally in the native areas to celebrate the triumph of the outstanding result the brilliant students.
