Five Suspected Rhino Poachers Apprehended in Biswanath District

Biswanath Chariali: Based on secret information that a group of rhino poachers was planning to enter Kaziranga National Park in order to kill rhinos, an operation was carried out on Tuesday night at Batiamari under Behali Police Station in Biswanath District by police along with Forest Team.

During the operation, as many as five suspected rhino poachers were apprehended. They were identified as Babul Das (40) of Dholpur Centre, Narayanpur, Thangboi (24) of Bokajan, Karbi Anglong, Bimal Boniya ( 24) of Rangchali Nepalibori, Behali, Shankar Baniya (24) of Ragchali Centre, Behali and Sukhdev Muktiar (55) of Balipara Khelmati, Chariduar.

Four mobile phone and some food items were seized from their possession. During interrogation, they admitted that they were planning to enter Kaziranga for rhino poaching. They revealed that one Jintu of Behali was to provide weapon for poaching. Police investigation is on.
