The administration of Dhansiri subdivision has highly alerted the people of sensitive areas near the Dhansiri River. According to sources, the Dhansiri River has maintained a sudden flood-like situation after incessant rainfall over the past couple of days due to which the Dhansiri River is flowing above the danger mark.
Meanwhile, 22 villages – No.1 Chungajan Block, Nagajuri, Singimari, No.1 Podumoni, No.1 Parghat, Bilpathar, No.2 Koiri gaon, No.2 Panjan, Dubarani, Simoluchapori, No.1 Tengani, No.2 Tengani, Jyotiban, Ranipathar, Dhansiripar, Misamari, Ekarani, Rajaali, Matikhula, Santipur and Podumpukhuri have been submerged by floodwater. The flood victims are taking shelter in various relief camps arranged by the administration of Dhansiri subdivision.
Total 17 relief camps have been set up. There are 191 flood victims at Nagajiri LP School, 1,393 victims at Jyotibon LP School, 23 at Tengani LP School, 304 victims at No.1 Parghat LP School, 295 at Tora Padumoni LP School, 646 at No.1 Podumoni ME School, 225 at Simolu Chapori LP School, 140 at Na Singimari LP School, 589 at No.2 Podumoni LP School, 330 at Buddha Mandir, 1,100 at Fakruddin Ali Ahmed LP School, 66 at Dhansiri ME School, 404 flood victims at Jawaharlal Sr Basic School, 180 at Simolu Chapori, 118 at No.1 Dubarani LP School, 147 at Bapuji LP School and 273 at Raipathar LP School.
According to the report, food and essential commodities have been distributed to the flood-affected people in the relief camps by AASU and AAMSU, Sarupathar regional units. The rescue operation and evacuation by SDRF are still going on.
