Due to incessant rain for the last few days, the flood situation has turned critical in Bajali after two embankments of the Pahumara River were breached by the current wave of flood.

PATHSALA: Due to incessant rain for the last few days, the flood situation has turned critical in Bajali after two embankments of the Pahumara River were breached by the current wave of flood.

Many villages of Bajali have been inundated by waters of the Pahumara and Kaldia rivers. Bhattadev University, other educational institutions and offices of the district are reeling under water. Pathsala Civil Hospital has also been flooded.

As per report, after Bhutan released water, more than 2 lakh people have been affected due to the flood. Around 171 villages have been affected. There are 49 relief camps and today around 152 people were rescued from the flood-affected areas. The NDRF, SDRF and SSB were called for rescue operations in various places of the region.
