DIBRUGARH: In what is a much-needed relief, the flood situation in the district relatively improved with the number of villages inundated by floods coming down to 62 on Wednesday.
Among those, the most prominent villages are – 10 villages under Chabua Revenue Circle, 40 villages under Dibrugarh West Revenue Circle, 7 under Dibrugarh East Revenue Circle, 2 of Moran Revenue Circle and three under Tingkhong Revenue Circle.
As per reports of Dibrugarh District Disaster Management Department, 43, 328 people, 35,073 animals and 4309.5 hectares of land of the said revenue circles have been affected thus far. The district administration has set up eight relief centres. The Circle Officers, representing the district administration, have been visiting the flood-affected regions, taking stock of the situation. They also distributed relief materials among the victims wherever necessary.
Ten medical teams of the Health Department are extending their services in such areas, apart from Public Health Engineering Department, which has been distributing unadulterated water and water purifying tablets among the flood-affected people. The district administration has also taken necessary measures to cater to the food requirements of the children living in the relief camps.
