LAKHIMPUR: The second wave of flash flood caused by various rivers of Lakhimpur district has worsened in the affected areas. During the last two days, flash floods inundated 11 more villages under three Revenue Circles of the district, with the number of affected villages rising up to 47 from Friday’s 36.

At present, flash floods caused by River Gabharu has inundated 15 revenue villages under Bihpuria Revenue Circle. These villages are Dharmapur Block, Ahmedpur Block, 8/11 Aunibari, Meneha, No. 1 Dharmapur, Kutubpur, No. 3 Dharmapur, Gabharu Tunijan, Torajuli, Harmoti Gaon, Pachnoi Bogori, Rangajan, Fatehpur, Islampur Gaon and No. 4 Dharmapur.

Similarly, Tengabasti village under Kadam Revenue Circle has been submerged by flash flood caused by River Kakoi while No.1 Hindu Gaon under North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle has still been affected by flash flood caused by River Subansiri.

On the other hand, River Singara has inundated a total of 16 villages under Naoboicha Revenue Circle. These villages are No. 2 Sonapur, Ranabari, Haribor Dolonim, Chengelijan, Rowdong Borpathar, Goshanibari, Ranga Pathar, Borgaya Gendhali, No. 2 Gelahati, Bamungaya, Gorsiga, No.1 Gelahati, Ahomoni, Bishnupur, Boloma and Phukandoloni.

Flash flood caused by river Kumatiya has affected 14 villages named Anuwati, Aroiya, Bangkleng, Bilmukh, Dakhin Gaon, Hatigarh, Kathalguri Miri, Maji Gaon, Mohbal, NC Lejua, No.1 Medak, No.2 Dakhin, No. 2 Medak and Tenga Am.

However, flood waters receded from No. 1 Khalihamari, Rangati, Pulinaharani, Athanibari, Ganakdoloni,Nidanchuwa, Futabhog and Chumdhara under Narayanpur Revenue Circle. The present wave of flash flood has caused lots of infrastructure damages in the affected areas. On Sunday erosion led to breaching of the Baligaon -Joriguri Road under Naoboicha Revenue Circle. However immediate restoration work was undertaken by the department concerned. Flash flood submerged Pahumora-Pakania Road and caused damage to the shoulder and surface of the road. A total of 265 fisheries-- 60 at Fatehpur(15 ha), 40 at Ahmedpur Block-40 (12 ha), 45 at Kutubpur (8 ha), 120 at Daulatpur (14 ha) were overflown in Bihpuria Revenue Circle. Flood caused by Pabha damaged the protection Bundh at Boloma under Naoboicha Revenue Circle. The present wave of flood has hit a total of 18,071 population, 520 hectare of crop area and 10,172 domestic animals.
